Present Tense: An Afternoon on How You React Under

Three hours with a small group of strangers, built around the feeling before a conversation you've been putting off. What We'll Do Most of us already know what we want to say in a hard moment. What gets in the way is the reaction that turns up first: the tight chest, the blank mind, the version of you that says less than you meant. That reaction is a reflex, and it rarely shows itself somewhere you can look at it.

In the room, we take away the things you usually lean on and watch what shows up instead. You're on your feet more than you're seated, working in pairs and small groups. Nothing is scripted, nobody performs for an audience, and you can pass on anything without giving a reason. Then you try something different, and try it again. About Present Tense Present Tense has run twice in Bengaluru. Each time, people noticed their bodies react before they could name what they were feeling, and more than one found it easier to accept applause for a failure than for something they'd done well. None of that is a promise about what happens to you. It's what has happened in the rooms so far. Perfect For Anyone who knows the feeling before something that matters and would rather understand it than push through it. People who've come so far include founders, product managers, doctors, architects, lawyers and engineers. What they had in common was the feeling, not the job. Come alone. Most people do. Meet Your Hosts Yash and Praveen have run rooms together for four years, around 250 sessions with over two thousand people, most of them first-timers. Yash spends his week with founders and business owners, and is good at the part nobody notices: spotting the person who's gone quiet. Praveen designs the sessions and runs a company, which means the conversations this afternoon is built around are ones he puts off too.
