The Imitation Englishman Book Launch

What do family stories leave behind, and where does history end and fiction begin? In 1916, a young man travelled from Almora to Heidelberg to study law. Along the way, someone stole his shoes. This unlikely episode from Devki Pande's family history became the starting point for The Imitation Englishman, a novel that takes us into a fascinating, yet lesser-known chapter of Indian history. At the launch of her book, Devki will be in conversation with Ponnu Elizabeth Mathew, author of The Remnants of Rebellion, another novel inspired by an incident from her family history. Join them for a conversation about the stories we inherit, the histories we uncover and the journey to fiction.
